[Interviewer] [words in a language that i don't speak] [Mehdi] We met in 1997 in uh, [the country?], we get along well together, we uh, we start making out together, and then we create a band: Natural Snow Buildings. [Interviewer] On your- your MySpace er, before, what was it, Folk and uh, Religion, your MySpace has disappeared, uh- [Mehdi] Yeah, it was destroyed... Haha. On our request. It wasn't ours, it was a- a fan, we get in contact with them and uh, we... tell him to destroy it for various reasons, because we don't want to be promoted by MySpace. We prefer to be promoted throughout blog- blogs, music blogs, we can offer our music [?], it's better. Than MySpace. [Interviewer] Is there a website where you can order uh, releases by Natural Snow Buildings? [Mehdi] No. Theres uh, our mail. [Interviewer] Because, they're so difficult to get releases by you, they're so limited, uh, CDrs, uh, the re-releases... [Mehdi] Yeah but thats- Yeah but thats part of the interest, on our music I guess. We don't want to press one million CDs, I think uh, making 20 CDs is enough. 'Cause, when you get the CDr you can copy it, you can offer it to a friend, you can... I dont know, music travels this way now. [Interviewer] You try to bring something across, then it's much more purposed to- to make more uh... copies of uh, recordings, CDrs, or- or regular CDs- [Mehdi] Oh... no... I think people can copy- can copy the CDr and you will find a copy on the music blog and the internet, and I think it's good. [Interviewer] You think downloading is uh, is okay? [Mehdi] Yeah, Yeah! [?] [Interviewer] You have a problem with the uh... with the music industry- [Mehdi] No, but the- that's not the way we want to do it, its not the way we want to do it, we let people do what they want, but uh, we have no problem with our music being downloaded and listened. Yeah, maybe it's [?] about music, about culture, about art in general. [Interviewer] That way, it gets very exclusive, they ask quite some prices for uh, for releases by you. [Mehdi] Yeah, but there's a sort of... art market, I guess. We can do nothing for that. And I don't think the solution is uh, is massive overproduction of music. [Solange] We are doing it um, by ourself, and uh... doing it, we can't make very large number of uh, CDs because it's so much work, to do it at home, so, if we make only 50 or 20 CDs, just because its so much work to do it, uh, by ourself, and- [Mehdi] Yeah, but it's- it's sufficient, I think. [Interviewer] As some of your releases are re-released, did they pick it up, or was it your idea, to uh, re-release the albums? [Mehdi] Oh, they propose us, and uh, we saw the occasion to extend the album, to uh, much more music. So, now, it's a re-release of maybe, uh, 6 CDs instead of two CDs. [Interviewer] Hm. [Mehdi] And we got the occasion of, uh, re-working the artwork, [?], but uh, I think uh, 500 CDs is too much. [...] [Interviewer] Do you have a day job, outside of uh... of Natural Snow Buildings... [Mehdi] Yeah, yeah, of course! I must have, it's- [everyone laughs] I must pay the rent, and then... pay the food, and uh, to [?] my cats, uh... [laughter] [Interviewer] You don't uh, d-do uh... live shows uh, a lot, you don't like that? [Mehdi] No, no. We are not searching for doing live shows, but uh, when we are [?], why not? But, I don't know if we see ourselves as performers, I like- [Interviewer] The home [?] [Mehdi] Yeah, maybe, yeah. I like the idea of compositions, and working very uh... take your time to work on the song, and uh, experiment at home. I like this idea, maybe we're a new race of musicians, and maybe we don't wanna change, er- we don't want to uh, make one thousand, or extensive tours, I don't know. [Interviewer] Do you like touring? Like uh, being on the road to... [Mehdi] Yeah, being here is very... [fine?]. It was great. It was really great. So we can meet other musicians, and... yeah. But... uh, do I want to make a living of it, uh, I don't think so. No. [Interviewer] The Natural Snow Buildings songs, how do they come together? [Mehdi] All the CDs we... we recorded, is- are at home, we- [Solange] [record it?] at home, press at home- [Mehdi] Pressed at home, except for uh, the reissues, or the Snowbringer Cult and [?], uh we, record it specially for [?]. Yes, everything is made at home. We never went... We never went to a studio- professional studio in our life. No, we just learned to uh, techniques of recordings, and... that's part of our music now. [Interviewer] You also uh... make records uh, seperately from each other, as Isengrind and TwinSisterMoon of course, what's the difference uh, between working as Isengrind and TwinSisterMoon and Natural Snow Buildings? [Mehdi] I can speak for TwinSisterMoon, I get that the difference is the simplicity of the songs in TwinSisterMoon, they are less layered and I don't do very much experiments with TwinSisterMoon as I do with Natural Snow Buildings I guess. [Solange] I like uh, doing experiments with Isengrind, but uh, the songs are less [?] constricted. [Mehdi] With TwinSisterMoon and Isengrind, we're just uh... sloppy, when we record it. It's like a lo-fi project of Natural Snow Buildings, I guess. [Interviewer] Are you working on new stuff at the moment? [Mehdi] Yeah yeah yeah, always! always! So, we got a... a studio at home so we can record at night, at day... [Interviewer] So what can we expect uh, on records or uh, downloading, or uh... [Mehdi] Okay, uh... I think there will be a new Natural Snow Buildings album uh, soon- very soon. Maybe in two or three months. In the meantime there will be uh, three CD and one mini-CD of music from Natural Snow Buildings, in very nice packaging. I don't know, there is a... Isengrind tape, maybe a... mini CD or... [Solange] And one TwinSisterMoon- [Mehdi] One TwinSisterMoon CD, new, [?], very soon, uh maybe to... limited to 40 copies, and um, there should be a... a seven inch TwinSisterMoon with a Texas, uh, Houston label called Dull Knife Records. Its a project, I don't know for the moment if it will uh, fulfill.
